hg0088Throughout the school year, MCI students are always looking for ways to give back to the community and benefit others in need. Below is a sampling of MCI's most popular outreach activities.
Community Service Day
MCI students have a long tradition of giving back to the community. The most visible gesture is MCI’s Community Service Day held in the fall and on the last day of school in June. On those days, students and their advisor groups are given a task in the community to help, whether the need is to rake leaves, clear brush, remove debris from Mill Pond or stack fire wood.
Community Service Days are ways to help community members who need assistance with outdoor projects – getting the yard ready for winter or cleaning up debris in the spring.
Every year, MCI's Key Club and Kindness Krew team up to provide Thanksgiving dinners - from turkey to pie - to local families in need. The project began in 2013 and has generously provided meals to more than thirty area families.
From late October to mid-November, students collect packaged stuffing, cans of gravy, vegetables and cranberry sauce, potatoes, juice, pickles and cash donations to purchase gift certificates for turkey. Over Thanksgiving break, students gather to bake apple and pumpkin pies for the meals they are providing.
International Food Festival
hg0088Since 2007, MCI features our popular International Food Festival to celebrate the rich cultural diversity of our students and faculty. Students and advisors plan and prepare food offerings, showcase music entertainment from their home countries, develop promotional materials, and host the open-house event that has become a fun, family event in April for hundreds of area foodies and school supporters.
Performances and Art Shows
hg0088Throughout the school year and often during the summer break, students participate in performances that are open to the public that showcase student talents in theater, music, dance and visual arts. These events are very popular with the surrounding community.
